Because of my dental neglect I’ve had to have a lot of work done including a couple root canals. I’ve never had any pain and if the anesthetic starts to wear off, he is very good about making sure you’re numb before continuing. And if the procedure takes long enough you get to watch a movie!”
About the Hygienist: “Kathy is great, but she likes to give me trouble about not flossing regularly. The problem is if I do floss regularly I won’t have reason to see Kathy so much. Quite a dilemma.”

“Go to Dr. O’Connor. I’m 55 yrs old and can smile for the first time with without hiding my teeth. My husband and I have had both routine and extensive dental care, including root canals and implants. In my case, I have had misaligned teeth my whole life and a TMJ operation. My teeth finally got to the point where I needed more than routine dental treatment. Dr. Tom helped me arrange everything. We had extensive consultations and determined a plan of action including finding a reasonable orthodontist. He coordinated with the orthodontist to ensure I was getting the best care. He even managed to do a root canal on me while I had braces. (My first root canal – I was scared -I still don’t know how he made it pain-free.) . After the orthodontic work it was time for the implant and crowns. Everything went wonderfully.
Whenever my husband and I have had extensive treatment, we always get a follow-up call. I even got Dr. O’Connor’s private phone number in case of emergency. He really does care about the patient.Dr. O’Connor’s office will work with you on your schedule.

“I can’t say enough about Dr. O’Connor and everyone in the office. I had spent the last 25+ years in and out of dentist offices as a result of a broken jaw and always dreaded the next visit. When I moved to St Louis, I found Dr. O’Connor via this website and all the good stuff here is true.
My entire treatment plan, which was to run over some 6 months, was planned to my schedule, never forced or rushed, including an implant went perfectly with zero pain. The office is never over-booked. I am always in the chair within a few minutes of when I walk in the office.
Dr. Tom and wife Diane, who runs the front desk, are a dream team. Warm and genuine, they regularly call me the evening after treatment to check up on me. Although I can’t compare the cost to other offices, my impressions are they are normal. Diane has often offered to help with insurance or billing matters and makes sure I understand everything that is happening. I feel like I have known the O’Connors for years and highly recommend them.”

“I have always thought my smile was my best feature, so when aging dentistry began to break down, I felt like I was losing my “window to the world” and needed to do something about it. I checked reviews and interviewed other dentists before choosing to have my extensive crown work done by Dr. Tom O’Connor. It was obvious from our initial interview that he was extremely thorough, evaluating each tooth and describing the existing condition of the tooth, its current gold or porcelain repair, and the prognosis for restoration. In all, Dr. Tom restored more than 20 badly deteriorated teeth, most with ceramic crowns. Since the work was so extensive, it was done by section, with the front teeth first. The compliments came immediately! Whether I smiled more, or the smiles just looked better, I knew I had made the right decision. Not only did my teeth look great; the O’Connors even checked up on my well-being each evening following a procedure – to me this showed they care about their patients. Diane not only made sure the proper insurance information was available, but she even stamped and mailed each statement! In short, while I can’t say it was fun, I can say that I am VERY happy with the results, and can’t thank Dr. Tom enough!”

“I have had Dr. Tom O’Connor as my dentist and orthodontist since I was 3 years old. He has done my braces, cavities, and everything else I have ever needed my whole life. I remember going into his office when I was a child and having a ton of fun even though I was so young and the dentist was always a scary place to go, but I have always loved going to the dentist and that’s because of Dr. Tom. The entire office is great and I still enjoy myself every time I have an appointment. After 18 years, and him watching me grow up, it’s turned into more of a social event when I go in for an appointment as opposed to just a dental appointment. Kathy the dental hygienist is fantastic and always makes sure I keep flossing and she keeps a very comfortable atmosphere with her patients.
I still get compliments on how great my teeth look because of my braces and I have Dr. Tom to thank for that. “I originally went to Dr. O’Connor in a desperate situation. A terrible toothache woke me in the middle of the night. I got on the internet and found this website. I read the superb reviews of Dr. O’Connor and emailed him a message. To my surprise he called early the next morning to discuss my dental problem and fit me into his very busy schedule that day.
I have been extremely impressed by the professionalism and care that is shown to patients by Dr. O’Connor and his entire staff. Dr. O’Connor spent a good deal of time learning of my dental history and determining current issues. He then took a lot of time explaining things to me and going over various options. (I have never had a dentist spend this much time talking with me.)
We decided that the best course of action for me was to get two implants. The implant surgery was well-planned and I felt well-prepared as to what would take place. The surgery itself was painless and the staff made me feel at ease and comfortable during the entire procedure. I was back to my regular routine by the end of the day.
I have since been back for regular check-ups and cleanings and am always very satisfied and happy. Going to the dentist is no longer something I dread.”

He only recommends what is truly needed, and clearly explains procedures and treatments. Dr. O’Connor also has a generous installment payment policy which has allowed me to get needed care without going broke. Dr. O’Connor recently replaced 3 worn out silver childhood fillings with gold inlays & fixed 2 cavities with gold inlays. He explained how much more durable gold is compared to a tooth-colored covering because I have a strong bite. The insurance reimbursement policy is timely and smooth. When Dr. O’Connor became a non-prefered provider for Delta Dental, I stayed with him because he and I determine the best course of treatment, and not the insurance company. I received significant reimbursement even as a non-preferred plan patient. I would recommend Dr. O’Connor to anyone.”

Two weeks ago, Dr. O’Connor did an alloderm graft on 3 teeth to cover tooth surfaces which if not covered, would eventually lead to tooth loss. The entire process from preconsultation through ongoing post operative checkups has been done in a very professional and caring manner. After the procedure, I was given very explicit instructions as to care and given Dr. O’Connor’s home phone number in case a problem arose after office hours. “In 19 years, I have had 1 or 2 root canals, 2 or 3 crowns, and multiple fillings. He is always sensitive to any possible pain or discomfort, is very comfortable to talk with, and very thorough. After one extensive treatment, Dr. O’Connor game me his home phone number and emphasized that I shouldn’t hesitate to call if I had any problems or concerns over the weekend. In addition, he has treated both of my children since their first visits around age 2 (they are now teenagers) – they don’t have any anxiety at all about dental appointments, and I think that is due largely to their very positive experiences at Dr. O’Connor’s office. When you walk into his offices, you are greeted personally by friendly front desk staff; the hygenists are thorough, gentle and give very helpful advice on the daily care of your teeth; and the personable Dr. O’Connor is an extremely fine dental practitioner. Over the years, he has done several crowns for me, and there has never been a spot of trouble with any of them. I am 60 years old and I have had several dentists work on my teeth and when I went to Dr. O’Connor my teeth were in bad shape with temporary fixes from the other dentists. Dr. O’Connor restored my teeth for long term . I have had some cosmetic work done on my upper front teeth and boy can I smile for you. Dr, O’Connor and his office staff has shown me how to take care of my teeth with the correct was of brushing and flossing. Dr. O’Connor wants you to take responsibility for your teeth and when you go back for your checkups they tell you what a great job you have done. I cannot thank them enough. “Highly recommend. I’ ve been going to Dr. O’Connor for 25 years. I was previously a dental asst, and fairly critical when assessing dental care. Dr O’Connor keeps up on the latest advances in dentistry, routinely participates in advanced education. He is expert on implants. He can handle almost any dental issue and also very important, knows when to consult or refer you to a specialist. Office staff also great – very compentent, helpful, friendly.
He recently performed an implant on me, which was very successful. (I was a little apprehensive due to what I’ve read in the past or heard from friends). He educated me about the process and recommended websites where I could learn more. The implant was complete months ago and is just like a real tooth.Dr.O’Connor no longer participates in my company’s dental health plan and so is now more expensive than if we changed to a dentist in the plan. We thought about it, but decided to stay with him. He is worth the extra money, especially since we occassionally have more than routine dental issues. (his office helps by filling out the dental claim paperwork).
